~with Heidi Beal~

Join Heidi in her Studio for an encaustic workshop! Her workshops are power packed with fun, inspiration and support. Come and learn about this exciting medium from an experienced, qualified, and generous teacher who has been teaching encaustic painting since 2007. Whether you are an experienced artist in painting, photography, textiles, or sculpture, or perhaps you've never taken an art class ever in your life...you’ve come to the right place!

In all of these workshops, you will experience articulate demos as well as a personal and professional approach to encaustic painting.  Heidi’s goal is for you to learn everything you need to know to begin your encaustic practice in your own studio. Health and safety practices, economic use of supplies, and creating with a purpose provides the foundation for all of Heidi’s workshops.  Within a small intimate group of up to 6 students, you will be encouraged to experiment with a variety of techniques, creating sample panels as well as completed art to take home. The “sticker approach” to learning which she developed as well as her encaustic handbook, eliminates the need to take notes! Her teaching approach enables students to focus on painting and having fun, instead of being a secretary.

4 Day Workshops INCLUDE:

  • 4 days of power-packed rich learning (and fun!), from 9am-4pm each day PLUS a bonus head start orientation the night before.

  • Unlimited studio time in the evenings or early mornings

  • All materials

  • Generous space for each student, no sharing of hot plates and heat guns

  • Nutritious and yummy meals which takes into account dietary restrictions

  • A gathering party and orientation the night before the workshop (usually Thursday night)

  • Good coffee, tea, drinks, nutritious and naughty snacks throughout the day with open access to a fully stocked in studio kitchen

  • Direct access to Heidi via phone or email for follow up questions regarding the content of the workshop, good for 1 year+ after the completion of workshop

“During my many years of teaching, I have come to understand the value of learning and networking that happens during an art workshop. Lifelong friendships are built, amazing new perspectives on oneself are expanded, new goals are set, the professional bar of excellence is raised, and the context of oneself within their art community is better understood. Although much can be had in the studio, often these rich experiences happen over lunch with your teacher, sharing a room with another student, or taking a meditative walk during a break."
